Plenary speakers for the East Asia Agents Conference 2026

Ainsley Mann MBE

This closing plenary features Ainsley Mann, Vice Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, exploring Asia’s rising global influence and the role of international education in shaping its future. Amid digital transformation, a growing middle class and deeper regional integration, he will highlight how international pathways build talent, support national goals, and strengthen UK–Asia collaboration, with key insights for agents and institutions developing future leaders.

Amarjeet Mutneja

With 15+ years’ experience leading international student recruitment, partnerships and admissions across multiple UK universities, Amarjeet moved into education consultancy a year ago. He focuses on aligning agent and university priorities, keeping students at the centre, and using agent-side data to identify opportunities and challenges in recruitment and conversion.

With 15+ years’ experience leading international student recruitment, partnerships, and admissions across UK universities, Amarjeet now works on the agent side, aligning agent–university priorities. He focuses on data-led insights to identify opportunities, address challenges, and keep students at the centre of collaboration and innovation.

Dr Xenia Xu

Head of Transnational Education, East Asia
International Office, Newcastle University

Dr Xenia Xu recently took up a new role as the Head of TNE for East Asia at Newcastle University, leading its TNE portfolio and wider engagement in East Asia. Prior to the current appointment, Xenia has led Newcastle’s student recruitment, partnership and business development in China and East Asia since 2017. She has over 15 years’ research and work experience in the UK Higher Education sector.

Jazi Jannati

Jazi Jannati is a United Kingdom specialist with nearly a decade of experience in international student recruitment. Her background spans strategic and digital marketing, thoughtful customer and people experience delivery, and the leadership of high-impact regional events. Jazi has also facilitated Transnational Education (TNE) initiatives with universities in the United Kingdom and Indonesia.

 

Jifei (Michael) Ge

Director of Asia Partnerships Team, University of Lancashire

Michael Ge has over 20 years’ experience in student recruitment and partnership development, primarily in China. He has led, and been heavily involved in, establishing the university’s flagship Transnational Education (TNE) joint programmes and joint institutes over the past decade. Michael has recently assumed responsibility for TNE development across wider Asia for the university.

 

Leighton Ernsberger

Regional Education Director, East Asia, British Council

Leighton Ernsberger, Director of Education East Asia for the British Council, brings 17 years of experience in Higher Education and Skills policy across the UK, South Asia, and East Asia. Since joining the British Council in 2014, he has been instrumental in implementing Skills reform programmes in India and Nepal, as well as promoting Higher Education in South East Asia.

Nick Lim

Country Manager, AUG Study Abroad, Singapore

Nick Lim Wen Jie, Country Manager, AUG Global Network, has over a decade of experience in international education across Southeast Asia. He leads operations, marketing, and recruitment strategies, driving growth through impactful campaigns and strong partner engagement. Previously with Cambridge English, he managed regional marketing for nine countries, expanding the reach of its qualifications. 

 

Sai Boon Chuan

Country Director, United Kingdom Education Centre, Malaysia

Sai Boon Chuan is the Country Director of UKEC Malaysia. He began his career with UKEC in Manchester, UK where he helped spearhead the incorporation of application, training, customer service, accommodation and visa departments, contributing to the organisation’s growth and operational excellence. After a decade in the UK, he returned to Malaysia in 2019 to lead UKEC’s regional development.
