Formally presented at the British Council’s biannual Edinburgh Showcase event in 2013, British Council Indonesia presented Smashed, by Gandini Juggling at the Seventh Triennial Indonesian Art Summit 2013 from 22 to 27 October 2013.

Inspired by the work of the great choreographer, Pina Bausch, Smashed is an hour-long piece involving nine skilled jugglers, 100 red apples and four crockery sets.

Simultaneously evoking great pleasure and small disquiet, Smashed lightly disrupts the rigid conventions of etiquette through a series of nostalgic filmic scenes exploring conflict, tense relationships, lost love and afternoon tea.
